Her father and I threw her party at a local park. It is way cool because it has a neat splash pad and playground. Sadly, we didn't get to experience it because the weather did not cooperate but at least it didn't rain! R.a.i.n. was the forbidden word, and I didn't let it slip out of my mouth until the day was done.
Three year old birthdays take a lot out of ya. Not only did I make all the food, but lugging it to the park and then setting up was a PITA! There happened to be a group from South Africa that had reserved almost the entire park, so we had to make it work by moving some picnic tables ourselves. Ok, who am I kidding, I didn't move anything- but the strong men did :)
It was my first party as a mother of two and I definitely needed an extra help to take care of Nathan. I still feel like I didn't get to really be as hands on as I would have liked, but oh well. I know she had a blast and that's all that matters. [I also didn't get to take as many photos as I would have liked, bummer]
Nathan really enjoyed the day. sigh.
I think it was teething.
mmm veggies! A special thank you to Sarah, who was
gracious to make some home-made hummus for us!
yeay hot dogs! Cooked just the way she loves, not at all.
Cupcakes! I swear, I didn't realize how dang
messy they would be when I ordered them.
opening her gifts. I think this is where
she started to get a little tired. I don't
think she even realized what she was doing
after a while.
I got her this art table thing.
She really loves it and uses it
daily for her playdough and moon
sand. Outside, of course.
I am really glad her party is done and over with! I don't understand why I let it stress me every year.. I put so much planning into it and afterwords I always tell myself that I shouldn't make it such a big deal since she probably won't even remember it.. and here I am today doing the same thing, and next year I will probably stress just as much.
