adventurous eating

Nathan loves food. He will eat anything and everything, at least for one bite, which typically makes it really easy to prepare meals for him. Ava, however, is super picky. I can count on one hand the meals she will eat. Chicken nuggets, pasta with alfredo, sometimes mac and cheese, yogurt,  and hot dogs. Most everything else is a battle. I try not to argue with her over food related things because I know it's not going to help anything, and she will eat when she is hungry, but I (and I hate to admit it) have been known to only give her what I know she will eat while I eat something else. Recently, I have decided that things are going to change, and while it's been a very slow process, I think things are going to improve.

One of the most difficult tasks, I am finding, is getting her to eat vegetables. It just doesn't happen. I've read a few things about hiding different veggies in smoothies, but she won't eat smoothies- so I am kind of at a loss with this. PLEASE send me your suggestions!

Nathan has been enjoying his turkey lately. I had the deli cut it a little more thick than usual, and break it up into pieces before giving it to him.

I mentioned the whole ear infection thing, right? Poor baby.

  1. Mix some veggies in with her pasta sauce or mac and cheese. Or, you could tell her that everyday she eats her veggies, you'll give her a star, and when she has 30 stars, you'll take her for ice cream. Bribing is sometimes a good way to make them eat things they don't want to.

  2. I blend some veggies into pizza and pasta sauces. My kid's are pretty good about eating most veggies though. I have them help me pick them at the store and that helped them want to try them out more.
